History
Gideon Matthew Tristan Prewett and his twin Fabian were born on a sunny July day to Ignatius and Lucretia Prewett. His family were exceedingly surprised when he decided to follow his brother from the womb- they had only been expecting one child- but none the less very pleased for it (even if it did mean that they were going to have to buy double the presents on birthdays).
From a young age the boys lived comfortably. While the Prewett family were by no means devastatingly rich they were rather well off and Gideon, Fabian and their elder sister Molly often reaped the benefits from this. The Prewetts led a peaceful existence, untroubled by the outside world. Ignatius had a stable job at the ministry, Lucretia devoted all her time to her children and there was always some sort of relative around to help out if the boys got into too much trouble (which, as boys will, they did).
At a young age Gideon and Fabian always seemed to do everything together. As small children they were usually to be found in the garden or down the park just around the corner from where they lived pretending to be jungle explorers or brave pirates. They never tired of adventure and were an energetic pair, always out to wear down anyone who was looking after them though by no means doing it on purpose. It just came naturally.
Gideon seemed to have a natural sort of charm and was generally very amiable. He adored the world around him and was interested in learning more about anything and everything. While Molly was attending Hogwarts the boys were tutored at home and had to learn things such as etiquette alongside the usual as pertaining to their mother’s wishes. Gideon yearned to go off to big school and during the holidays he would refuse to stop pestering his sister until she told him new stories about the goings on of Hogwarts or about the idyllic grounds that surrounded it.
Aged six he began to show his first signs of magic when he somehow made his teddy bear grow to four times the size it had originally been. His brother did not follow suit until a year later, something that Gideon is extremely proud of and often brings up in conversation.
Blood purity was a subject that Gideon did not touch upon until he was around eight years old, when his father took Fabian and Gideon into a room and told them what it was to be a pure blood. While Ignatius Prewett did believe that blood purity only strengthened wizards and forged better connections amongst society he also believed that they could co exist peacefully alongside side muggles and he did not have a problem with half bloods or muggleborns being allowed to practice magic. After all, why would they have such a gift if they weren’t supposed to utilize it? Gideon trusted his father’s judgement and also promised him never to discriminate based on blood.
Aged eleven the twins received their Hogwarts owls and were ecstatic to be accepted into the school and finally allowed to learn about real magic.
Their mother, they had learnt, had been a Slytherin at school while their father was a Ravenclaw. Gideon didn’t suppose he’d mind what house he ended up in so long as Fabian was there too. On reaching Hogwarts Gideon felt, for the first time ever, truly helpless as he watched his brother (F before G) place the sorting hat on his head and promptly be declared a Gryffindor. He wasn’t certain how to follow up and it took immense courage to actually put the hat on his head.
It didn’t take too long for the hat to decide that while he was an extremely loyal friend and protector he was also very ambitious while being intelligent and brave. In the end, however, it was decided that he was part of a pair and the hat bellowed a loud “GRYFFINDOR!” to applause of the red and gold draped table.
Gideon made friends easily enough within his house and didn’t see any problems with socializing with people from other houses either. He found the barriers between them somewhat distasteful and was always the first to stand up for someone being bullied due to any sort of prejudice, be it blood status, house or hair colour. For this reason (aside from his obvious Gryffindor-ness) he has never really got on particularly well with most Slytherins.
In his third year he tried out for the Gryffindor quidditch team and made it as a beater, a position that he has enjoyed for some years now.
Appearance
Where (look wise) Molly favours their father, the two boys look far more like their mother. Dark haired and birdlike in a roundabout handsome fashion with chiseled cheekbones and striking features, Gideon and Fabian aren’t the least attractive boys at Hogwarts. Following a growth spurt just before their fourth year Gideon was awkwardly tall while skinny, though he has now grown into his height and looks comfortable as opposed to the gawky boy he used to be.
He has a healthy glow to him as though he spent most of his childhood running round the country side (which he didn’t, but most certainly would’ve liked to have done).
Twin as he is, one of the very few things that set him apart from his otherwise identical brother is a small scar beneath his chin where he fell out of a tree as a boy. While not particularly noticeable, anyone that knows Gideon well enough and wants to know which twin they’re talking to usually tries to catch a glimpse of it (in the winter he delights in hiding his chin beneath a scarf and getting his brother to follow suit so that they appear complete clones of one another.
He doesn’t pin too much on appearances though he is usually fairly smart looking and he doesn’t like to let his hair grow too long and keeps it relatively short most of the time.
Platonic Relationships
Best friend(s): Fabian, of course.
Good friends:
Acquaintance vs. Friends: Friends. Who better than someone to talk to that enjoys the same things as you? Acquaintances don’t mean anything compared to the warmth of a good friendship.
Beliefs involving friendship: If you agree with him on most things and aren’t a prejudiced berk then Gideon is likely to try and bond with you. He believes that friendship is a very valuable asset and he is incredibly loyal to those that he befriends.
Major Dislikes
People: The prejudiced. Those that refuse to give out second chances. The bigots. Those who offend his friends.
At Hogwarts
House: Gryffindor
Year: Seventh
Accomplishments: Gryffindor Beater
Attitude about school: Gideon enjoys school- not only the lessons, but the company- and while like most other students he can never wait to get home for the holidays he does make the most of his time at Hogwarts. He is an incredible wizard and hopes to hone his skills and become and auror once his final precious year as a student is over.
Other
Smoking: Occasionally
Alcohol: Occasionally
Weaknesses: He can jump head on into something without thinking. He can be over protective. He believes in second, third, fourth and fifth chances.
Favourites
Colours: Red and gold- it goes with the territory
Foods: He’d murder a chocolate fudge sundae with extra cream on top any day.
Quidditch team: Falmouth Falcons (And Gryffindor)
Place: At home celebrating something with his family.
Beliefs
Love at first sight: He doesn’t agree with this.
Premarital relations: Perfectly acceptable.
Drugs: He’s tried one or two but has decided that he’s not going to go down that route
Homosexuality: He is completely straight but, though he’d find it a bit awkward talking to them, is able to accept that there are homosexuals in society.
Personality:
Gideon is, more than anything else, a great lover of life. Eternally grateful for where he has been placed he adores the sun, cheers for the snow, dances in the rain and enjoys everything else just as much. An optimist at heart and on the exterior, when Gideon becomes involved in something he won’t allow any doubts that he will succeed.
He is an exceptional wizard and achieves high grades in every subject except for astronomy, which he now refuses to acknowledge ever existed. Loyal to the core, Gideon will not betray a cause that he believes is right and compromise isn’t an option with him. There are few shades of grey to him and Gideon wears his heart on his sleeve for all to see. He is brave, though this can show itself as rashness, and he can occasionally jump into things that shouldn’t concern him because he feels strongly about them. As well as this, he can remain blissfully ignorant to the flaws of some people and this means that he isn’t always too well informed to make a decision that he’ll just rush head on into.
A brilliant friend, once Gideon trusts you it takes a lot to stop him from believing in you. There is good in almost everyone, they just don’t know how to use it. His greatest fear is being forgotten and he is particularly exuberant to prevent this from ever happening.
